Abstract
The thing that makes the Walls of Rome so special is their urban nature, whose identity and significance are closely intertwined with the events of the city's evolution. They are an accessible monument, in the middle of the street, the largest in the city but fragile and little recognised. This paradox lies at the heart of the Athenaeum's research Roman Infrastructure. The urban Walls and the central archaeological area in new vital cycles of cultural promotion, technological innovation, socio-ecological reactivation and new competitiveness for the city of Rome promoted by the Department of Architecture and Projects of La Sapienza University and collected in this volume, a choral work that brings together the results of a multidisciplinary study that has brought together architects, archaeologists, landscape architects, sociologists, communication experts and photographers in a multifocal reading of this unique artefact, built over time through deletions, additions, replacements and modifications. The book is divided into three parts and develops five thematic axes - Archaeology and history; the Walls in the system of accessibility; the environmental body; cultural infrastructure; the narrative dimension of the media - in order to reread the Walls as monument and infrastructure in the name of the environmental and social sustainability of the Sustainability Agenda and the Faro Convention.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
