The study presents two cases of cultic epithets, both regarding city communities: Hierapolis of Phrygia and Laodikeia on Lykos, and regarding deities: Zeus and Apollo. The selected cases allow a reflection on the relationship between cults of Hellenic tradition and local Anatolian cults. The epithets offer material for reflection on the encounter between cultures.
