Within the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), sport is specifically mentioned in “Mission 5” – titled “Inclusion and Cohesion”. The plan allocates 700 million euros for the improvement of sports infrastructure across the entire country, assigning sport the role of initiating processes of urban, social, and economic regeneration, with particular attention to fragile and socially degraded areas. It is no coincidence that in recent years, topics related to sport and sports infrastructure have become central in the literature on urban regeneration and livability. These topics are recognized as key indicators of urban quality, around which policies, strategies, and actions are concentrated to achieve a safer and more livable city. However, in Italy, sports facilities often end up obsolete and unused, creating urban voids that are difficult to reintegrate into the urban fabric unless properly rehabilitated. For this reason, European funds represent an important starting point for the renovation of numerous disused and/or obsolete facilitiesin Italy. Therefore, this contribution aims to identify the key steps in allocating NRRP funds to Regions and Municipalities that have requested them, with reference to projects for the recovery and reuse of sports facilities, specifically focusing on the case of the Metropolitan City of Venice. The goal is to highlight the criteria for the selection and distribution of resources, as well as the opportunities and challenges of the instrument, to provide greater clarity, three years before the deadline, on the previously discussed topic.

Abstract
The goal is to highlight the criteria for the selection and distribution of resources, as well as the opportunities and challenges of the instrument, to provide greater clarity, three years before the deadline, on the previously discussed topic.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
