Attività artigianali specializzate nella Grotta Serafino Calindri (San Lazzaro di Savena) durante l’età del Bronzo

The recent review of the data and ceramic materials coming from the research conducted in the Serafino Calindri Cave, discovered in 1964 by the Gruppo Speleologico Bolognese, has allowed to define a frequentation of the cave during the central phases of the Bronze Age. Inside the natural cave, in association with the ceramic finds, numerous gypsum artifacts were also recovered, bearing imprints of various kinds (wood, ceramics, animal fur, plants, etc.). The radiocarbon dating presented here, carried out on charcoals taken from gypsum artifacts, confirms this as the oldest attestation in Italy of the use of cooked gypsum for specialized craft activities. The recovered data suggest a non-episodic use of the cave as a probable space for conservation and / or treatment of raw materials or processed products.
