This volume collects a selection of essays presented during the international workshop held at the Sapienza Università di Roma on June 14, 2023. The event, promoted by Rita Francia and Matteo Vigo, marked the conclusion of the project lead by Rita Francia “Il Linguaggio ‘poetico’ e linguaggi specifici nella letteratura ittita e confronti con i linguaggi delle letterature limitrofe”, within the frame of the grant funded by Sapienza (Bando di Ateneo 2020 – Nr. Protocollo RP120172B9D31F4D). The scientific goal of the workshop was to grasp the concept of “literature” of pre-classical societies from an emic perspective.
