Starting from the metaphor of the flight of the soul, the mechanisms of effectiveness of theatrical practices in prison are analysed by examining some literary cases and direct experiences of prisoners. Doing theatre in prison is not an escape: on the contrary, it brings one back to the present life, however hard it may be, with a renewed ability to accept it without suffering it. Removal mechanisms are always very dangerous and generate a false consciousness, a kind of social hypocrisy. Erasing the dark, not recognising Caliban as an epiphany of one's own shadows, leads to a false world and ‘in a false world every ἡδονή is false’.
a partire dalla metafora del volo dell'anima si analizzano i meccanismi d'efficacia dele pratiche teatrali in carcere esaminando alcuni casi letterari ed esperienze dirette di detenuti. fare teatro in carcere non è un’evasione: al contrario, riporta alla vita presente, per quanto dura possa essere, con una rinnovata capacità di accettarla senza subirla. I meccanismi di rimozione sono sempre molto pericolosi e generano una falsa coscienza, una specie di ipocrisia sociale. Cancellare l’oscuro, non riconoscere Calibano come un’epifania delle proprie ombre, conduce a un mondo falso e «in mondo falso ogni ἡδονή è falsa».
