In this paper, we propose a novel robot to reduce invasiveness of gynecological surgery, which is often done through keyhole surgery even though a less invasive operation could be achieved through the natural orifice method. To develop such a robot, the anatomical parameters of the female reproductive system are needed. Therefore, the anatomy of the vagina, the cervix, the uterus, and the fallopian tubes was analyzed from an engineering perspective to obtain the requirements needed to implement a robotic solution to improve dexterity and workspace in gynecological surgery.

Abstract
In this paper, we propose a novel robot to reduce invasiveness of gynecological surgery, which is often done through keyhole surgery even though a less invasive operation could be achieved through the natural orifice method. To develop such a robot, the anatomical parameters of the female reproductive system are needed. Therefore, the anatomy of the vagina, the cervix, the uterus, and the fallopian tubes was analyzed from an engineering perspective to obtain the requirements needed to implement a robotic solution to improve dexterity and workspace in gynecological surgery.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
