This article deals with the tenses from the perspective of German Easy Language. The substitution of "difficult" tenses such as Präteritum, Futur I, Plusquamperfekt and Futur II with more "easy" tenses such as Perfekt and Präsens is discussed within a semantic approach. According to the specific context, we can differentiate between cases of immediate substitution and cases of substitution with (minor) semantic adaptations, mainly adding temporal adverbials or inverting the chronological order of the respective sentences.
