Abstract
Mario Apollonio entrusts the drama “La Duse” with the task of expressing his conception of the art of the actor. The actress is represented on stage, while she rehearses “The Lady of the Camellias”: in the magic circle of fiction, her human and spiritual itinerary is outlined. The script was proposed as a "prologue" to inaugurate the 1947-48 season of the Piccolo Teatro in Milan. Paolo Grassi's refusal to stage it will lead to Apollonio's resignation from the management com-mittee of the Piccolo Teatro: “La Duse” had made ex-plicit, and irreconcilable, political and cultural con-flicts regarding the methods of implementing a pro-gram of public interest.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
