Other Dimensions of Discrimination

This chapter is devoted to the analysis of other (under-researched) dimensions of discrimination: age discrimination, disability discrimination, and housing discrimination. Although the existing cross-country data for Europe do not allow for a presentation of detailed analysis of these topics, the chapter revises the specific theoretical mechanisms in each area and presents an overview of existing empirical studies. For age discrimination, it uses a special module of the European Social Survey to provide some evidence on attitudes in Europe towards ageing, and experiences with prejudice because of age.
