Digital Twins for Lifecycle Management: The Digital Thread from Design to Operation in the AECO Sector

This chapter is a literature review about existing definitions and specific uses, level of complexity and system architecture of digital twins (DTs). Lessons can be learnt and applied to the architecture, engineering, construction and operation sector in order to define actionable frameworks for DT implementation across the lifecycle management of the built environment from design to operation and maintenance.
