The central reflection of the Volume stems from the theoretical, methodological, and experimental conviction that recognizes the construction of public space, and more broadly of the public city, as the structuring reference for implementing a strategy of urban regeneration and territorial rebalancing for the contemporary city. It thus offers an opportunity to delve into some thematic nodes that configure as significant areas of disciplinary innovation. In the context of European policies and community programming, and in line with the integration character of urban regeneration, the reflection highlights the need for cross-sectoral and inter-institutional convergence among all policies related to territorial governance. It aims to combine the demands for the realization of a new urban welfare with those for the enhancement of cultural heritage, prioritizing the networking of common identity assets. These assets serve as the basis for restructuring the framework of the public city, enhancing the quality of the urban environment, and fostering the collective use of spaces.
