In this paper, a plea is made for the treatment of multilingual phraseology in university foreign language teaching. This results from a finding that was acquired in a previous study (Koesters Gensini 2020a). Here it was shown that students' difficulties in dealing with phrasemes are not limited to the foreign language, but can be traced back to a fundamental difficulty in accessing linguistically complex meanings and rendering them in a different way (both in their L1 and in an L2 or L3). For this reason, a research project originally devoted to the study of translations of phraseology has also been used in the field of foreign language didactics to deepen students' metalinguistic competences in their first language and thus enable them to transfer these competences to foreign language acquisition. This thoroughly positive experience is described here.

Abstract
This thoroughly positive experience is described here.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
