The Baptismal Ritual in the earliest Ethiopic canonical liturgical collection

Among the liturgical texts transmitted in Ethiopic, there is a well known, yet relatively disregarded piece of the earliest Ethiopic literary and liturgical heritage. The main aim of my contribution is to elaborate on it in the light of decisive new elements which have emerged in recent years. This small contribution is situated within the framework of a broader investigation of early documents of the Ethiopic canonical liturgical literature, along with others of a different character — belonging to the apocryphal, historical, and hagiographical literature — which appear in several cases to be more or less strictly related to them. These first thoughts on the Baptismal Ritual are therefore only preliminary to a work that is still in its early stages
