Fingertip tumors are common entities in hand surgery; benign lesions are more frequent than malignant ones, and familiarity with their features permits a correct diagnosis and an adequate treatment in most neoplasms. Diagnostic suspicion is based on history, physical examination, and imaging, but definitive diagnosis is only made by biopsy. The possibility of a malignant disease should be always considered: in case of worrying findings, or if any doubt exists, a prompt referral of the patient to a specialized tumor center is needed.

Abstract
Fingertip tumors are common entities in hand surgery; benign lesions are more frequent than malignant ones, and familiarity with their features permits a correct diagnosis and an adequate treatment in most neoplasms. Diagnostic suspicion is based on history, physical examination, and imaging, but definitive diagnosis is only made by biopsy. The possibility of a malignant disease should be always considered: in case of worrying findings, or if any doubt exists, a prompt referral of the patient to a specialized tumor center is needed.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
