The study of sedimentary records can give us insights into climatic patterns of the past, how ecosystems adapted to those changes and could serve as analogues for future global warming. The high–resolution palynology record from Fucino Basin (central Italy) focuses on MIS 11c (ca. 426-396 kyr BP) and the vegetational response of the glacial-interglacial transition MIS 12-MIS11c (Termination V). The results demonstrate the increase in humidity at the beginning of MIS 11c (exponential growth of the Abies population) and a millennial-scale variability with several periods when the temperature and aridity increased.

Abstract
The study of sedimentary records can give us insights into climatic patterns of the past, how ecosystems adapted to those changes and could serve as analogues for future global warming. The high–resolution palynology record from Fucino Basin (central Italy) focuses on MIS 11c (ca. 426-396 kyr BP) and the vegetational response of the glacial-interglacial transition MIS 12-MIS11c (Termination V). The results demonstrate the increase in humidity at the beginning of MIS 11c (exponential growth of the Abies population) and a millennial-scale variability with several periods when the temperature and aridity increased.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
