The monograph "Mediating Architectures" explores the synergies between Heritage, Landscape, and Tourism, focusing its debate on archaeological sites within their territorial areas, specifically within the scope of the Archaeological Ensemble of Itálica and Santiponce. The architectural project as a mediator between these concepts, as a means to foster the much-needed connection between the heritage values of the territory and sustainable socio-economic development, is the central argument of this exhibition. It is based on the work carried out by undergraduate and master's students of the School of Architecture at the University of Seville during the academic years 2017-2018 and 2018-2019, as well as the research project "SMARCH Smart Architectural and Archaeological Heritage" (HAR2016-79757-R State Plan 2013-2016 Challenges). These projects invite us to consider the operational potential of architecture as a means to promote a vision of heritage as an active resource for society. The exploration of these proposals suggests mechanisms for transcending an object-oriented view of archaeological ruins, disconnected from their landscape reality, and encourages comprehensive interpretations that reflect on the urban and territorial role of Itálica. The redefinition of boundaries, the reconsideration of current pathways, and the revitalization of parts of the city that have received less attention thus far are proposed as fundamental lines of action in the projects presented in this publication.

Abstract
The redefinition of boundaries, the reconsideration of current pathways, and the revitalization of parts of the city that have received less attention thus far are proposed as fundamental lines of action in the projects presented in this publication.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
