Proximity matrices are frequently asymmetric and analyzed by using the additive decomposition into symmetric and skew-symmetric components. A strategy for a preliminary graphical description and clustering of the two components based on some recent methods is presented. An empirical application allows to emphasize the advantages and the effectiveness of the proposal.
