Dal palazzo comunale agli spazi civici: un Atlante digitale per i luoghi della collettività nel medioevo

The paper aims to illustrate the work done at different scales for the construction of a platform called Atlante digitale dei palazzi comunali e luoghi della collettività nel Medioevo Mediterraneo (Digital Atlas of Municipal Buildings and Community Places in the Mediterranean Middle Ages). The objective of transdisciplinary project was to analyze the construction of the first stable seats of municipal power and their geographical dissemination in a territorial, processual and comparative view. The prototype consists of interdisciplinary sheets on single buildings, which can support historical information, cartographic representations, surveys and 3D reconstructions. A key element was the planning of research scenarios that could be carried out on the input data. This research constitutes the first step towards the up-dating of the historical-humanistic disciplines bringing them into the digital domain, anticipating the times and governing with scientific approach the digital transition in progress.
