In order to support a multilingual and multicultural approach in the learning/teaching process in academic courses, the author analyses Leonard Orban's speeches (2006-2008) in his role of European Commissioner for Multilingualism. The texts have been analysed at both a quantitative and a qualitative level. Key words, such as " language skills"," language learning", "diversity", "lifelong learning", have been contextualized in their possible development within academic curricula.
