The commons were not just a grassroots movement of claiming material and symbolic spaces and resources. They have framed a deep change in our way of conceiving the city and its institutions. Inscribed in a long process of transformation of urban identity increasingly characterised by a multiplicity of actors and strategies, commons have influenced urban policies through differentiated, sometimes composite, sometimes divergent paths. This contribution analyses some different ways that have led in Italy and largerly in Europe to the progressive commonification of urban and local policies focusing on both innovative and ambivalent effects.

Abstract
The commons were not just a grassroots movement of claiming material and symbolic spaces and resources. They have framed a deep change in our way of conceiving the city and its institutions. Inscribed in a long process of transformation of urban identity increasingly characterised by a multiplicity of actors and strategies, commons have influenced urban policies through differentiated, sometimes composite, sometimes divergent paths. This contribution analyses some different ways that have led in Italy and largerly in Europe to the progressive commonification of urban and local policies focusing on both innovative and ambivalent effects.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
