Präpositionen I. Räumliche Präpositionen

Prepositions are among the most highly polysemantic words. In the linguistic tradition, they are usually regarded as “syn-semantics”, the relevant meaning of which must be inferred from the context. In their basic functional properties, they are referred to as relationship words, the task of which is to express relations between people, objects or facts. The experience in space and its conceptualization is used in recent research as the source-domain for the development of all other meanings.
