The children of migrants are now a prominent presence in many European school districts, Italy included. They face the complex and multifaceted challenges within the scholastic and the larger contexts, which influence the level of their acculturation and well-being. This study aims to explore the acculturation process among adolescents and students of immigrant origin in the city of Rome (Italy) and their well-being, as well as some of the protective vs. risk factors. Above all, the study plans to investigate about their experiences of discrimination, and about aspirations and uncertainties for their future. Special attention will be given also to the issue of identity and their contacts with the country of origin of their parents. We will conduct a survey with a large sample, and interviews with a selected group of young people.
