This chapter proposes a critical assessment of the rock art styles traditionally adopted to classify the rock art of the Tadrart Acacus. The definition of styles and their cultural and chronological frame follow a long tradition of studies and has sometimes entailed harsh discussions. This paper aims to give a general view on the main rock art styles identified in the Tadrart Acacus massifs, tracing the paths of the different interpretations, and discussing critical issues.
