In this paper a selection of texts from "The Black Book of Soviet Jewry" was presented in order to explore the possibilities of adopting approaches of gender studies to these materials and to trace recurring elements in the representation of the experience of women, whose stories are told in the first person and/or reworked by the book's editors. These include, among others, moments of bonding and the creation of new family ties, the transformation of domestic activities into survival skills, changes in women's social role and traumatic physical experiences (i.e. childbirth). The editing process was also taken into account: in this respect, the search for literary tropes in the texts was another aim of this paper.

Abstract
In this paper a selection of texts from "The Black Book of Soviet Jewry" was presented in order to explore the possibilities of adopting approaches of gender studies to these materials and to trace recurring elements in the representation of the experience of women, whose stories are told in the first person and/or reworked by the book's editors. These include, among others, moments of bonding and the creation of new family ties, the transformation of domestic activities into survival skills, changes in women's social role and traumatic physical experiences (i.e. childbirth). The editing process was also taken into account: in this respect, the search for literary tropes in the texts was another aim of this paper.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
