SEISMIC RISK The Directorate of Works and State Property of the Defense started a training and professional development course on Anti Seismic Engineering, in order to increase knowledge and intervention capabilities on infrastructures involved in seismic events, also in favor of populations in by natural disasters. The primary aim of the course is to set the basis for efficient synergies in the Anti Seismic Engineering sector between the military and the academic world, also involving other excellence of the sector. This can be achieved by providing the Administration’s military and civilian personnel with all the necessary skills to evaluate the seismic vulnerability of the huge real estate property used by the Defense. The highly specialized technical staff trained in this course will be an important, professional resource available to the country in case of seismic events, for adequate technical support to the Civil Defense and local authorities. In this regard, a scientific cooperation protocol was started between the Ministry of Defense, important academic institutions and the other scientific research organizations of national and international importance. MIG PROJECT Research & Technological Innovation Project. AIM: Design and manufacturing inside a shelter of a Container Factory, to allow the automatic cultivation of vegetables for military personnel during “peace keeping” and/or “peace enforcing” operations, in strongly disadvantageous areas, with low natural resources. OBJECTIVE: Fully automated productions in a controlled, sterile and sealed environment, inside a shelter, fully computerized, modular, LED lighted. Controlled productions without agronomical personnel. Cultivations: - Low biological cycle (15-20 days) - High nutrients density (more metabolites concentration, like ascorbic acid, carotenoids, etc…) - Low water utilization - Zero fertilizers - Zero phytochemical treatments, Zero batteries, fungi, pathogens, etc… due to sterility
