The new urban question has changed the meaning of the problems related to urban planning, environment and landscape, highlighting the inadequacy of some conceptualizations. Consequently, the search for a new urban welfare requires the implementation of a new concept which, through an experimental approach characterized by high levels of integration, interdisciplinarity, interscalarity and iterativity, incorporates the new dimension of the contemporary city. For this reason, the urban regeneration strategy conveys significant repercussions on the social and ethical connotation of the “design disciplines” relating to the Schools of Architecture, Design and Engineering, understood in a broad sense which, in the case of the PDTA Department, includes Urban Planning, Landscape Planning, Architectural Technology, Design, Architectural and Urban Design, Building Physics, but also disciplines that integrate the experimental dimension, such as Environmental Botany, Performing Disciplines, Administrative Law, Sociology of Cultural and Communicative Processes, Psychology of Work and Organizations, underlining, even more than in the past, the important role that they can and must assume, as essential references in the search for a new urban welfare, to offer answers in relation to new environmental, social, political and economic phenomena.
