The present study, moving from the field of semantics of Korean language’s lexicon, analyzes the relation between Sino-Korean words and native-Korean words. Are those two categories of words related by synonymy? Or is it more reasonable to be speaking of semantic simi- larity or relatedness? The answers to these questions will be attempted by referring to linguistics, semantics in particular, and using vector se- mantics to navigate the vast panorama of Korean language lexicon. The focus of the study will be a comparison of similarity measures between words, using vector representations to investigate and better understand the context and words polysemy.

Abstract
The present study, moving from the field of semantics of Korean language’s lexicon, analyzes the relation between Sino-Korean words and native-Korean words. Are those two categories of words related by synonymy? Or is it more reasonable to be speaking of semantic simi- larity or relatedness? The answers to these questions will be attempted by referring to linguistics, semantics in particular, and using vector se- mantics to navigate the vast panorama of Korean language lexicon. The focus of the study will be a comparison of similarity measures between words, using vector representations to investigate and better understand the context and words polysemy.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
