The pandemic has forced universities to reflect on how they can innovate their teaching to improve educational success and strengthen the centrality of students. This is in a context in which reflection on how to promote skills useful in forming active and aware citizens has been active for years. Transversal competences play a key role in this process. This contribution sets out to describe two studies promoted by two Italian universities, in very different contexts, but with the same aim: to innovate teaching both in terms of the activities envisaged and the assessment methods, in order to improve students' transversal skills. The theoretical reference frameworks, the methodologies adopted and the results obtained are described.
