This chapter analyses the use of the building, for academic purposes in teaching and research, which has influenced not only its conservation over time, but also its perception and appreciation. Research based on scientific and statistical sources, reveals that the increase in the number of users (teachers and students) and of radical changes in the academic activities (such as teaching and research), have produced dramatic consequences on the building, notwithstanding the fact that its function has remained unchanged since origin.
