The numismatic correspondence between Onofrio Bonghi and Antoine I. Silvestre de Sacy

This article aims to widen our knowledge of Arabic coin finds and collecting through examining archive documents, letters and drawings that record and illustrate the chance discovery and/or the possession of Arabic coins in Southern Italy in the early 19th-century. More specifically, our focus is a series of letters from Onofrio Bonghi to Antoine Isaac Silvestre de Sacy (1758–1838) currently kept in the Bibliothèque de l’Institut in Paris
