The article investigates a particular case study related to the complex Nachleben of Origen in the XVI century. Its aim is to understand how the confessional debates of this age influenced the late understanding of Origen by scholars and theologians. The case study concerns of a central theological point, the resurrection of the bodies, which is strictly related to the relationship between body and soul in Origen’s thought. The case study presented is the debate between Lelio Sozzini, John Calvin and Heinrich Bullinger, in the 1540s; both Bullinger and Sozzini wrote a treatise about that. In his treatise, Bullinger described Origen as the fountainhead of an error that spread out during the centuries: the transmutation of the risen substance of the body. Origen and his tradition around the destiny of the body was explicitly and implicitly at stake in this debate, which was very important for the late radical views of the Socinianism on the resurrection.
