Tra Quirinale e Campo Marzio. Materiali e temi di storia urbana

The area considered is characterised by a complex urban history that, over the centuries, has substantially modiied its orographic layout, its topographical structure and its urban destination. Although it is located at the crossroads between the great complexes of the Imperial Forum and the monumental and residential districts of Campo Marzio and Quirinal, studies on ancient Rome have not given the area a contextual and integrated consideration. Research has focused on individual archaeological problems without providing comprehensive and up-to-date documentation that would facilitate the reading of the urban phenomenon in its various material and symbolic components. The collection of essays published here constitutes the irst attempt to systematise the various dossiers and problems of which this short article offers a frst, synthetic overview
