One of the most radical changes in post-communist societies in Eastern Europe was certainly the transition from a system based on "social levelling", like the Soviet one, to a system of economic inequality. The evolution of the democratic transition process actually deeply influenced all aspects of the public sphere, starting with economic and social structures. From 1990 onwards, in fact, that process of transformation of social structures which had already begun during the de-stalinization phase of the Soviet system underwent throw a frightening acceleration.
