The article establishes the meaning of and offers etymologies for two rare Khotanese words: (1) parrama‑ ‘circle, wheel’ is from Iranian *pari-ram-a‑ ‘what goes round’, a derivative of the root *ram‑ ‘to go, move’ also found in parrām‑ ‘to reconnoitre; to understand’ from Iranian *pari-rām-a‑ ‘to go round’; (2) pūheiʾtä ‘slim, slender’ (not ‘he will bind’) is from Iranian *pati-θu̯ai̯š-a‑ ‘fast, swift’ with a semantic shift comparable to Italian snello ‘slim, slender’ borrowed from Old High German snel ‘fast, swift’.
