The first monograph of Leonardo Ricci in English, intended for an international audience, to make known the importance of his contribution regrettably absent from the most recent “comprehensive” histories of architecture. His inventiveness, his conviction of the collective and social role of architecture, his ability to respond to the natural environment and his genuine sense of the hollowness of the era of “stars,” all combine to resonate with our present concerns. The book paints as complete a picture as possible of the activity and the explosive energy of this rather complex and even tormented figure, who deserves to be reconsidered among the masters of Italian architecture in the second half of the twentieth century.
