or ancient world studies, Babylon can be considered the most impressive historical, archaeological, and visual representation of ancient Near East urbanism. Many themes concerning this first urbanism and its cultural heritage, which have helped to form aspects of the Babylonian historical and cultural memory could be discussed. This volume is structured as open, multidisciplinary research (historical, archaeo- logical, and philological) on the ancient Babylonian culture, and collects chapters that define the epistemic foundation, contacts, cultural transmission, and resilience of ancient Babylonian milieu until the present time. The importance of the historical and cultural memory of Babylon is illustrated by the wealth of knowledge and skills it has transmitted from one generation to the next.

Many themes concerning this first urbanism and its cultural heritage, which have helped to form aspects of the Babylonian historical and cultural memory could be discussed.
