A new electrochemical synthesis of b-lactams has been obtained by electrolysis of CH3CN-TEAP solutions with subsequent addition of bromoamides. The cyclization of these substrates to b-lactams, via N-C4 bond formation, has been induced by electrochemically generated cyanomethyl and aminocrotonitrile anions. This synthesis avoids any peculiar addition of bases and probases and yields b-lactams in high yields.

Abstract
A new electrochemical synthesis of b-lactams has been obtained by electrolysis of CH3CN-TEAP solutions with subsequent addition of bromoamides. The cyclization of these substrates to b-lactams, via N-C4 bond formation, has been induced by electrochemically generated cyanomethyl and aminocrotonitrile anions. This synthesis avoids any peculiar addition of bases and probases and yields b-lactams in high yields.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
