Hobbes ed il problema dell'antropologia filosofica in Hans Blumenberg

This paper aims at questioning the connection between Blumenberg’s anthropological phenomenology and his interpretation of the genesis and the nature of modern rationality, focusing on the key figure of Thomas Hobbes. In Anthropological Approach to the Actuality of Rhetoric (1971), the Hobbesian reflection upon the state of nature is indeed presented as an exemplification and as a model for an anti-essentialist and functionalist anthropological ap- proach. In such a way, it will therefore be possible to highlight the genesis of Blumenberg’s anthropological theory out of the questions raised by Die Legitimität der Neuzeit, as well as to query some aporetic aspects deriving from his radically Nietzschean restitution of the modern turn.
