Data is a necessary element for building knowledge, and the transformation of data into information and knowledge is one of the most important activities of any society1. In the “Information Society” knowledge is the main production and transformation factor, starting from the need to generate and redistribute in a productive cycle of any good and service. Buildings and cities represent hubs for the collection, storage and transformation of data into information and knowledge. Modern cities represent the real nerve centres of data growth, assuming the role of the main generators of the increase in information flows.
