La storia dell’etica come problema

The introductory chapter to the volume dedicated to the histories of ethics examines the problem of the history of ethics as a specific theme within the problem of the genre of the history of philosophy. It also treats the relationship with philosophy conceived as theory. It argues for a pluralistic answer to the question about the specificity of the history of ethics, suggesting various models of ethics which allow to write different histories of ethics which are all internal to the tradition of Western philosophy, indicated under the titles of normative enterprise, art of life, critical enterprise
