The Italian left wing Press coverage of the Arab-Israeli-Palestinian conflict during the seven years from the Six days war to the Kip Kippur war, has demonstrated how the different components of the Italian left, concerned with these complicated Middle East events, have considered more general problems and issues too, and have determined and reaffirmed their approach to the international and domestic politics. Furthermore, new deeper and wide ranging researches have been carried out in order to consider the attitudes of the Italian left parties and movements during the period of time from the establishment of the State of Israel to the Gulf war.,which also coincides with the ten legislatures of the so called “ Prima Repubblica” (First Republic). The essay takes into account the following preliminary issues: the usefulness and the aim of a long term investigation, the definition of the “left” concept, and the importance and role of the party’s press as a source of the historical research.
