Hi Fescenninas acies Aequosque Faliscos. Falerii: da città idioglossa a comunità romana

According to ancient sources 241 BC is a turning point in the history of the ancient Falerii: the city was conquered by the Romans, severely punished, and a new city - Falerii (Novi) - was built not far away from the old one. Notwithstand- ing this chronological caesura, the analysis of both archaeological and epigraphical records carried out in the paper allow us to outline a more nuanced picture, in which the transition between the old and the new city can be brought to light.

Secondo le fonti antiche il 241 a.C. rappresenta un punto di svolta nella storia dell’antica Falerii: la città fu conquistata da Roma, severamente puni- ta, e una nuova città - Falerii (Novi) - fu costruita non lontano da quella vecchia. Nonostante questa cesura cronologica, l’analisi delle testimonianze sia archeologi- che che epigrafiche permette di delineare un quadro più sfumato, che ci permette di cominciare a mettere in luce il passaggio tra la vecchia e la nuova città.
