Twenty-five years after the publication of the volume “Il tempio di Apollo in Circo e la nascita del linguaggio architettonico augusteo,” I decided to prepare an English edition. The book had been the fruit of my three-year research doctorate 1990- 92 at the Department of History and Restoration of Architecture of Sapienza University of Rome and had effectively put into print much of what I had to say about Roman architecture at that time. By producing an English version, my hope was to make my research more accessible, particularly with regard to those with only a limited knowledge of Italian. Given that the text and the illustrative apparatus are still substantially valid, I decided against attempting a total overhaul. Instead, I limited myself to one or two important clarifications and corrections, while several reconstructive images developed with more innovative techniques were added. In light of the book’s reviews, I considered the contents sufficiently sound to render rewriting it a fundamentis superfluous. That said, based on the reviews, new discoveries and some reworking of my own, it would, however, be appropriate to offer some guidance to new readers.

Abstract
That said, based on the reviews, new discoveries and some reworking of my own, it would, however, be appropriate to offer some guidance to new readers.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
