The new habits of the contemporary society are leading to a comprehensive reassessment of the built environment, thus entailing a deep renovation especially on those pieces of cities where settlement density, functional and technological obsolescence and housing discomfort threaten to overshadow the aesthetic values conceived in the original design ideas. The regeneration project designed by the research team ROMA3131 operates on the M4 and R5 lots of the Tor Bella Monaca district and intends to revise the features of an important portion of public social housing of the Municipality of Rome. The purpose is to achieve a balance between the heightened urban dimension, the consistency of housing heritage and the increasing dwelling crisis. Although the Intervention area traces back to the imposing modernist tradition, it appears at the same time a carrier of multidimensional weaknesses which require a professional approach from diverse subject areas. The overlap between environmental, social end economic issues is solved through the adoption of a multi-disciplinary systemic approach that works on cross-references between different scales. Thus, the project relates to the intervention on buildings, the redesign of public space, the reconfiguration of dwellings and in-between spaces and the redefinition of facilities all in a perspective of a combined deep renovation process that contributes towards the upcycling of the run-down areas.

Abstract
Thus, the project relates to the intervention on buildings, the redesign of public space, the reconfiguration of dwellings and in-between spaces and the redefinition of facilities all in a perspective of a combined deep renovation process that contributes towards the upcycling of the run-down areas.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
