Abstract
Between the 15th and 16th centuries, the demands for religious renewal led to the rediscovery of the Patres Ecclesiae and to the flourishing of numerous patristic editions throughout Europe, from which Humanists, Fathers of the Reformation and also the strenuous defenders of Catholic orthodoxy draw constantly. This work focuses in particular on the reception and use of the figure of Jerome in the cultural battle of the heated years of the Reformation and the Counter-Reformation, which resulted as an attempt to "confessionalize" the history of Christianity and therefore its main historical figures, including of course the Stridonian.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
