Il ruolo delle biblioteche tra sostenibilità e sviluppo sostenibile: indicatori e modelli di valutazione

The paper first examines evaluation indicators that deal with the contribution of culture to sustainable development, as defined by Unesco, as well as the important role played for libraries, at international level, by IFLA and EBLIDA, and in Italy by AIB but also (and generally) by Istat and ASviS. Main international and national models to measure and evaluate libraries’ sustainability and their contribution to achieve Sustainable Development Goals are analyzed; if there are interesting strategies and ideas, however, there is a lack of an organic approach and critical issues, and methodological delays are numerous. The hope is that the dimension of sustainability can be better integrated in libraries’ evaluation cycles, with main reference to impact assessment.
