Produzioni di ceramica a vernice nera nell’area costiera del Latium Vetus

Departing from the technical features of two groups of black gloss ceramics that come from Ardea and Lavinium, two of the most important cities on the Tyrrhenian coast, this paper discusses aspects of the original production site for each of them. These productions closely follow forms and types of the so-called “Gruppo dei Piccoli Stampigli” and can be attributed to local workshops, rather than known Roman ones. This article presents several technological elements that have permitted to identify these newly discovered production centers.
