This collection of essays brings together some of the papers given during the study day Celestino Schiaparelli (1841-1919): His Legacy and the Oriental School of Sapienza that took place on 8 December 2018, at the Odeion of the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy at Sapienza University. The aim of this book is to shed light on Celestino Schiaparelli’s life, works – both published and unpublished – and passions. In doing so, it will reappraise his academic activities and scholarly output in the wider context of the Oriental studies at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
