Abstract
Illustration of the events of architectural restoration in European countries with reference to the history and current events, to the theoretical development of the discipline and the concrete realization of the interventions. The framework has highlighted the multiplicity of approaches to conservation that exists today in several European countries, as this multiplicity constitutes a growing phenomenon in the last two or three decades, and as it does not exclude, indeed in some countries even prefers, the positions extreme replication architectures disappeared or revisions totals by the new logic of composition and materials. In this landscape so complex, it was possible to identify three homogeneous areas. The first can be found in the eastern sector more prone to the restoration, the second and third are related respectively to the north-central and south-central Europe and tend respectively to an empirical approach, open to all the possibilities for design and make a more conservative and critic, focusing first on the authenticity of ancient architecture. The restoration as an act of culture remains a phenomenon linked to the European identity: the discovery and understanding of the historical and artistic heritage of Europe has promoted even outside its borders, claiming since the eighteenth century excavations and research, and this tradition continues today with the export of scholars and conservators in the world.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
